Sorta Fell For You

I wrote a song. I’m becoming Taylor Swift, apparently…according to a few people. haha… not because of her amazingness or her fame or even because of the hundreds of songs she’s written, but because of her ability to write a song about anything that has made an impact on her life. For good or for bad, she’s written countless songs about broken hearts, crushes, and first loves… I have not had so many broken hearts that I have written many songs, but the few that I have had, I have turned into songs that to me sound cheesy and annoying, but to others, surprisingly, they sound catchy and cool. It’s like my remedy to heal and to be Keri again.

This song I wrote and it basically tells the story of a recent…I don’t know the word to use, but you could probably figure it out just by reading the lyrics. Heartbreak? Lesson learned? Time wasted? Frustration? Blessing in Disguise? Anyways, I performed this song for the first time last night at an Open Mic and was hesitant about going up there to share it. But, now that I have conquered my fear of performing a heart-felt song to an audience, I felt that if I can do that, I can post it on my blog so you can read the lyrics, too…

I will one day probably receive the reputation for exaggerating the circumstances in a song in order for it to be a good one…so here’s “exhibit A” of this new way of writing… Song writing with mostly truth, but a little exaggeration to make it more real… Comment if you want to!

This song is called Sorta Fell For You.

You and I met only a few months ago
We laughed as you asked me to dance
Who was I to think that you were real to me then,
when a few months later, here I am…

Chorus:
You came just in time,
with your smile and your laugh
Ha ha ha ha
But you walked away before
I had time to get it back
Now here I am
sitting all alone
wanting that first day to come back
Because that’s when I first
Sorta fell for you, baby

At first we were good
we laughed and joked like we should
then slowly it was like we never met
You turned your back but there I stood
It’s okay, I’ll let you go
But know this before you do,
You were fun
You were right that night
I sorta did fall for you

Chorus:
You came just in time,
with your smile and your laugh
Ha ha ha ha
But you walked away before
I had time to get it back
Now here I am
sitting all alone
wanting that first day to come back
Because that’s when I first
Sorta fell for you, baby

Bridge:
So here we go
Another day
I’ve given up trying to make you stay
live your life,
go ahead and sing
Because here I am,
miles away,
Trying the same thing

New Chorus:
I will go on, too
Living one day at a time
It’s not easy as you’d think
pretending you never came
so now here I am
walking by myself
wishing you were still in my life
but it’s not that easy
because I have fallen for you baby
I fell for you, baby
I…Goodbye to you, baby.
