You are all probably wondering now what the career is that I will never do. You’re probably expecting me to type it right now, so you will no longer have to wait. Well, you’re wrong.
You will have to guess it. I will tell you the story and you must guess.
Today in Biology class, we had to dissect an earth worm. A long, straggly, slimy earthworm. We had scissors and scalpels, amongst other necessary tools. The smell was horrific and if you’re eating food right now, I’m sorry, but I just had to say that. (You may want to stop eating… earthworms are gross). To see the organs and such, first I had to cut it open.
I will never do that again. I was “cursed” not really cursed, more like blessed, but in this case it was a curse, with a loving heart to all people, animals, and things. It may sound weird but sometimes I have trouble eating gummy bears and animal crackers because all I see is an animal. It is a wonder I’m not a vegetarian. (This fact I try to hide and never tell anybody. But I guess it’s too late for that, because I’m telling you here and now. Just don’t make fun of me, it’s just a weird fact about my life). Anyways, so cutting that poor, dead worm was almost as horrible as the smell. To me, at least.
To spare you from lots of details, I dissected that earthworm and saw all of it’s guts and what not. I. will. never. do. that. again. My classmates are witnesses to the fact that while I dissected the worm, I started thinking aloud and saying things like “I hope this poor worm was a Christian and that it’s in a better place.” I even named it Matthew, like I wasn’t weird enough.
All this to say that there is one career I will never pursue. If you guessed surgeon, you are right. Even if you guessed doctor or nurse, you are correct. I never want to cut something that was once living open again. Not to mention, a person who is STILL living. I’m sorry, I just can’t. And be thankful that I don’t want to do that. Imagine me being a surgeon. HA. HA. HA.
